Day in the Life: Associate Designer, Major Men's Label Here's a look at a day in the life of an associate designer as told to Vault.com.
9:00: Climb out of bed and go shopping ("In this position, you actually go shopping to see what's out on the market. You watch the trends. Then, you try to incorporate what you see - new colors, fabrics, trends - into your designs.)
12:00: Get back to the office and work on design samples
2:30: Grab some Thai food to go and eat it as you work
2:45: Talk with a Trend Services professional and find out more information on up-and-coming fashions.
3:30: Meet with a print studio to put together a color card ("During any given project, you may meet with print studios, fabric studios, and color studios.")
7:00: Call boyfriend; apologize for not being able to meet him for dinner.
8:00: Eat dinner while flipping through magazines. ("It's crucial to stay on top of the newest trends.")
8:30: Meet with the head designer ("Throughout the day I work with the designer on the presentation board and on the line.")
11:00: Finish up one more sample and finally head home ("The hours can suck, especially during the peak-season. I'll often work this late, however long it takes to get the job done.")
