Welcome!  These frequently asked questions have been compiled of the most common questions that we get asked at SkillCircle.com.  These questions are organized by topic, although we recommend that browse through these questions, to familiarize yourself with the various features of our site.

Please read through these questions before sending us an email.  If your question is not answered here, please feel free to fill out our Support Request Page and we will personally respond to your questions.  We value your questions and opinions, but because we read each and every email that comes to us, please give us a day or so to respond back to your questions or comments.

Logging In

  1. I bought the training with my credit card.  How do I log in? Simply visit the front page of our web site, and click the login link at the top of the page.

  2. I forgot my password...help! No problem!  Fill out our online Password Request form and we'll send it immediately to you!

  3. I can't seem to log into SkillCircle, but I know my name and password are correct.  What's wrong?  Remember that SkillCircle name and passwords are case sensitive.  You must type your name and password exactly as shown in your email that you received from SkillCircle.com.  Some other possible problems could include:   a) you are accessing the Internet from a proxy server that does not allow authentication to SkillCircle.com (like from work).      b) You have exceeded the number of simultaneous network connections that Internet Explorer or Netscape allows.  Simply close your browser, re-open it, and try again.  See more on this in the answers below.

  4. I've requested for my password to be sent to me, and I didn't get it.  Why?   Remember that some mail systems can take up to 1 hour to deliver mail.  SkillCircle instantly sends out your name and password to you, so you should be getting it shortly.  Please remember that the name/password is sent to the email box of the email that you have used to originally set up your account, so be sure to check that box for the email.  If you still do not have your name/password, send us an email, and after verifying your identity, we will send it to you.

  5. After I change my password, I get a message saying that my authentication failed.  Why do I get that message, when I typed my password correctly? This is the proper function of the web browser, just type your new username and password.

  6. Help, I can't get logged into my account? I am not being prompted to enter my username and password, instead I just get an access denied screen. If you are using Internet Explorer, please follow these instructions:
    • Open an Internet Explorer window, then click on the 'Tools' menu, and select the 'Internet Options' menu item.
    • Then click on the 'Security' tab. Now select the 'Internet' zone, and then click on the 'Custom Level...' button.
    • Scroll down to the bottom, and look at the settings for 'User Authentication'. Make sure the 'Automatic logon with current username and password' setting is selected. If not, please select it and then click 'OK'.
    • Click 'Ok' again to close the 'Internet Options' window.
    • Now try to click on the 'Login' link on our web site again, and you will see the username and password prompt now.

  7. Help, I can't seem to get logged into my account? I don't understand, I am typing my exact username and password that you sent me.

There are two steps to take to verify that your software is functioning correctly.

    • First, if you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer, please check your current version.  You can do this by clicking on the "Help" menu and selecting "About Internet Explorer".  If you have version 5.01 or earlier, you must upgrade your software using the Internet Explorer link below.  There are known issues with these versions.

Or if you are using Netscape Navigator, please check your current version by clicking on the "Help" menu and selecting "About Netscape Navigator".  If you have version 4.0 or earlier, we recommend that you upgrade to the newest version.

To download Internet Explorer, click here: Microsoft Internet Explorer
To download Netscape's Browser, click here: Netscape Navigator

    • Secondly, please note what the browser is showing in the authentication window, the important piece of information is who is requesting the authentication.

For example, in Netscape, the window displays: "Enter username for SkillCircle.Com at www.skillcircle.com:", below this information it asks for your username and password.

In Internet Explorer, it displays the requesting site as "Resource: SkillCircle.Com".

This is important because it tells you who is requesting your username and password.  In the case of most corporate offices, companies have either a firewall or proxy server that is allowing you to access the Internet.  If you are seeing any requestor listed other than "SkillCircle.Com", then you are being prompted for your proxy or firewall login.  This login is normally your network username and password, but please see your corporate system or network administrator for more details on your login process.  As always, if you have any questions, please send us an e-mail at support@skillcircle.com.

Email Questions

  1. How do I change my email address on SkillCircle.com?   For corporate groups, your email can be changed by your account administrator.  Otherwise, once you log into SkillCircle (By clicking the 'Login' button at the top of the page) you can change your email address on the first page you come to.

  2. I want to stop getting emails about job fairs, and other local events, but I want to keep my resume in the system. To stop getting emails about technical and employment events, simply edit your resume, and uncheck the Events notification.  This will mean that you will still get your agents and any emails from employers, but you will not receive any information about job fairs, training opportunities or technology events.

Custom Quotes for Corporate Groups

  1. How do I receive an online quote for a group in my company? At any time you can go to our Home Page, and click on the Corporate Packages link at the left hand side of the page.  You will then be asked to provide us with information regarding what course bundles you would like to purchase, and for how many students.  We provide the ability to completely customize your course selections for multiple student groups, and you will receive a quote online, based on your selections.

Course Questions

  1. What materials do I get with my training? Nothing!  The beauty of our online training is that you can take the courses and assessments online, anytime, anywhere as many times as you want for a period of up to 12 months after purchase!

General SkillCircle Questions

  1. Does SkillCircle.com ever resell my information?   Absolutely not.  All information in the SkillCircle.com database is never provided to anyone, and is considered completely private.  SkillCircle.com wants to build a lasting relationship with the technical community, and reselling your information would definitely not be the way to do this.  If you ever encounter an instance where you feel that someone has improperly used your information on SkillCircle.com, please report this violation to us immediately, and we will investigate.

Problems Purchasing Training

  1. When I click on the link to purchase training, immediately I get a page that says the page cannot be displayed, what is wrong? At SkillCircle, we use the highest level of encryption on our servers to protect your personal and credit card information while purchasing.  If your browser doesn't support the highest level of encryption you will need to download the High Encryption Update for your browser.  For Internet Explorer, you can check which level of encryption you have by clicking on the "Help" menu and then selecting the "About Internet Explorer" menu item.  You want to look under the listing for Cipher Strength.  If this is less than 128-bit, you need to update Internet Explorer.

  2. I am using Internet Explorer, my browser is updated to allow 128-bit encryption, however I still cannot get to the secure purchasing page, what is wrong? If the cipher strength shows 128-bit or greater and you are still having problems, please make sure the following settings are enabled:
Click on the "Tools" menu, and select the "Internet Options..." menu item.  When the window opens up click on the "Advanced" tab.  Make sure the following options are checked under the "Security" section: (depending on your version the first two may not be shown)
      • PCT 1.0
      • TLS 1.0
      • SSL 2.0
      • SSL 3.0
